Why integrate technology into the curriculum? The reasons are many. By Edutopia Staff

In this article on edutopia.org, the reasons for integrating technology into all aspects of education are strongly supported. Students need to have the opportunity to learn technological skills in order to compete globally, therefore, these skills need to be nurtured and developed in the schools. The most effective way to teach these skills to students is to immerse them in the technology. Edutopia discusses “four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback and connection to real-world experts”. By incorporating these concepts, students will be benefit from a cross-curricular approach in which they uses technology in all aspects of their education rather than just learning computer skills from a separate course.
By moving to a more integrated approach with technology, students will have the opportunity to develop problem solving skills and team work strategies. Challenging students in this way will engage them and keep their interest. There are benefits for teachers as well. By incorporating technology in the classroom, teachers will have tools to support diverse learners, and having students actively engaged will provide for easier classroom management.
